Facilities boost for schools in Golden Grove, Para Vista and St Agnes

Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School, Prescott Primary in Para Vista and Saint David’s Parish School in St Agnes – all in the federal electorate of Makin – will soon benefit from improved learning areas thanks to a nationwide grants program run by the Turnbull Government.

Senator David Fawcett, patron senator for the federal electorate of Makin, today announced Golden Grove Lutheran Primary School ($270,000), Prescott Primary in Para Vista ($540,000) and Saint David’s Parish School ($302,000) in St Agnes would each receive federal funding through the Capital Grants Program.

“This funding will contribute to the construction of new learning areas at each of the schools, as well as other improvements” said Senator Fawcett.

“While buildings alone do not make a school, students and the whole local community will benefit from using these new facilities.”

“The Turnbull Government is boosting federal funding for all South Australian schools by $805 million over the decade, or an average increase of over $2,570 per student so that students with the greatest needs receive the highest levels of funding.”

Minister for Education and Training Simon Birmingham said the Capital Grants Program provides vital funds for non-government schools to upgrade facilities such as classrooms, laboratories and libraries.

“This program is part of the Turnbull Government’s commitment to ensuring students have the support they need to succeed in the classroom,” Minister Birmingham said.

“In addition to initiatives such as this program, the Turnbull Government is also delivering a new funding system to ensure every student gets the resources they need.

Capital grants are additional to funds provided by state and territory governments, non-government school authorities, and school communities, which are responsible for providing and maintaining non-government school facilities.
