Media ReleaseAdelaide-based business awarded Defence Innovation Hub funding
Last week the Minister for Defence Industry Christopher Pyne announced that Adelaide-based company Mincham Aviation has been awarded $272,000 as part of the most recent tranche of Defence Innovation Hub funding.
The contract aims to explore the development of a tube-launched unmanned aerial vehicle. This innovation will allow our naval operators to accurately deliver projectiles from ships in adverse weather conditions.
Mincham Aviation is one of only three successful companies in this round of awards and is a great example of the importance industry plays in contributing to the defence of Australia.
Senator Fawcett noted that “Innovation by Defence industry increases the capabilities available for use by the Australian Defence Force but also develops unique Australian products that can be exported to trusted international partners”.
“The contracts in this tranche, which total $584,000, further demonstrate the government’s commitment to maximising Australian industry involvement – big or small – in meeting our Defence capability needs.” Minister Pyne said.
This government has invested over $54 million in the Australian industry and innovation sector through the Defence Innovation Hub since its launch in December 2016. This funding is part of the larger $640 million set aside for future innovation in Australia’s Defence industry through to 2025-26.
Senator David Fawcett joined Minister Pyne in extending his congratulations to Mincham Aviation for this significant contract and win for innovation and jobs here in Adelaide.
